MY HOME HERO MANGA REVIEW - THE UNDERRATED MANGA 1

 Hello reader
, Kei here

This will be the first blog of The Underrated Manga blog series I will be writing. In this blog series, I will be writing about some manga which as the title suggests is underrated or underappreciated. So... starting off with this series is "My Home Hero", one of my all-time favorites.

Written and illustrated by Naoki Yakakawa and Masashi Asaki respectively, it started publishing in Weekly Young Magazine on May 29th, 2017, and has been continuing ever since. At the time of writing 14 volumes and 91 chapters (need confirmation) have been released and all of them have been translated.

My Home Hero Manga

It has a rating of 7.95 on Myanimelist and a 78% mean score on Anilist. It is a thriller and drama manga with 14,204 members only seen/read it (from Myanimelist) thus underrated

Synopsis :

My Home Hero is a story about a father trying to flee from the danger of yakuza and police who for the safety of his daughter murders her boyfriend who has a former history of abusing his girlfriends and is a gang member.

Personal Review :

Plot

The plot is the part where this manga shines the most. The story is just... awesome. The author has clearly tried to make realism a major component in the story which you can see in how the author handles the murder and its aftermath. Also... the story is designed in such a way that it will keep you on the edge of the seat for the duration of the manga. Currently, there are 2 arcs released and the third arc is being released. The first arc was the best one so far. The second arc felt like it's was gonna end after that but the author threw a curveball at the end and continued on with the third arc which is more drama and flashback more than being a thriller arc but still great.

Overall, the Plot is 9/10

 Characters

The main character is the most intelligent MC I've seen in a while when compared to a normal person (not L, not Lelouch... you guys are still smart-asses). The other characters are just clever and smart as you would expect from a thriller manga. Something I've noticed in the manga is its clear-cut way to define a character... like the MC and his wife is smart cuz of a reason not of some weird IQ surge

Overall, the characters are 8/10

Art

Art in the manga is great which you can probably guess from a different artist instead of the original author. Also... I am not an art style connaisseur so I am not an expert in the subject but from what I can see the art style is certainly suitable for the genre and the artist really did outdo himself to make the character designs distinct but it is nothing too special or bad at the same time

Overall, the art is 8/10

Enjoyment

The enjoyment of the manga was like a rollercoaster ride. It had its up and downs but at the end of the day, I had a great time. Is it a manga that can be finished in one sitting? For me... it was even though the second arc was a bit lackluster when compared to the previous arc but the story picks up the pace on the third arc

Overall, enjoyment is 9/10

Adding themselves up, it was 8/10 for me...

That's it guys for a short review. Hope u find this helpful.
