Manhwa Review : Beginning After The End

The Best Beginner Isekai

Hello Reader,

Kei here

Today I am going to review a very well-known webtoon, "Beginning After The End". Adapted from a light novel written by TurtleMe, It started publishing on June 7th, 2018 on tapas.io and currently has 120+ chapters with 3rd season ongoing at the present. Its genres are action and fantasy.

As it is a webtoon, there is no rating for it on myanimelist or anilist. So, on anime-planet it has a rating of 9.6

Now onto the review

The Beginning After The End Manhwa

Synopsis :

King Grey, the unrivaled martial arts grandmaster, is resurrected into a world of magic where he strives to be the strong again

Plot :

The plot is as cliche as you can get. MC gets isekaid into another world where he gets OP powers and if he was alone in the previous world, he will try to protect his 'newfound' comrades or family and if he is betrayed, he will take revenge. This is like 90% of the isekai ranobe you see nowadays but 'Beginning After the End' executes the concept in such a great way just like Solo Levelling did. It has all an isekai have training arc, redemption arc, romance arc you name it. So, it can be a great beginner webtoon for new manhwa fans or isekai fans.

Overall, The Plot is 7/10 for me

World-Building :

One of the most important elements in an isekai manga/manhwa. So... I am dividing this into some sub-sections.

Overworld Internal
(World-building of residing area):

As of the present chapter, the overworld world-building to say the least is a bit disappointing. The MC has only visited few cities and even the visited cities were not elaborated properly except the places MC visit.

6/10

Overworld External
(World-building of non-residing area (alien-planets, foreign countries, etc...))

As of the present chapter, the external world-building is decent but the balance between external and internal world-building is off-putting and can be chaotic at times but the plot acts as the supporting pillar to not make them chaotic.

8/10

System
(Magic System, Power Levels, etc...)

As of the present chapter, the magic system is good as the system is creative than most cliche isekai webtoons. The mana system is balanced for everyone except MC but that is obvious from an OP MC story

8/10

Overall, 7/10

Characters:

Regarding the personality of the main character, he is immature and a big man-child. The side characters have the same personality as any cliche isekai manhwa, to say the least. Even with all these faults, the character's personality is top-notch. Instead of going the route all-OP no character development, the author tries to increase his physical and mental maturity as the story progresses which I think is one of the best features of the whole webtoon

Overall, 8/10

Art:

The art style is pretty good when compared to generic manhwas. The environment is done pretty nicely and the expressions of the characters are great too. The monsters and enemies are done pretty nicely too. Regarding the compatibility with the genre, I say it is great too.

Overall, 8/10

Enjoyment:

This is the part where the opinions start to vary depending on the reader. In my personal opinion, the enjoyment is inversely proportional to the number of manhwas you have read. So... I recommend you to read the manhwa early as possible to get the most out of it and it is a good recommendation to newbies.

Personally, when I read it, it was 8/10

Adding them all up, it gives 8/10

That's it guys for this short review
